Documentation & USA Requirements
Vehicle Age — Senegal Only

For shipments to Senegal, the car must be 8 years old or under. This restriction does not apply to The Gambia.

Original Title (No Lien)

We require the original car title with no bank lien. If the car was recently purchased, a bill of sale is also required. One copy of the key must be provided.

If There Is a Lien

If there is a lien on the title, provide the original lien release letter from your lender.

Personal Items Allowed

You may place a few boxes of personal items of no commercial value inside the vehicle.

Full Payment Required at Booking

Payment in full is required as soon as the vehicle is booked. We accept major credit cards and wire transfers.

No Severely Damaged Vehicles

We do not ship severely damaged vehicles. All vehicles must run and drive under their own power.

Warehouse Drop-Off

The vehicle must be delivered to our warehouse at 3450 Baychester Ave, Bronx, NY 10475. We do not accept vehicles without original title at drop-off.

Vehicle Condition & Delivery Rules
Must Run & Drive

We can only ship vehicles that run and drive under their own power. Non-running vehicles will not be accepted.

Severely Damaged Vehicles Not Accepted

Vehicles with severe structural or mechanical damage will be refused at the warehouse.

Original Title Required at Drop-Off

We will not accept any vehicle without the original title at time of delivery to our warehouse.

Minimal Fuel Only

Ensure there is only minimal gas in the tank when delivering your vehicle. This is a safety requirement for container loading.

Loading & Transit Times

Container Consolidation

Your vehicle is consolidated with 2–3 other cars in a 40ft or 45ft container. The number of vehicles per container depends on model type (Sedan vs. SUV).

Departure Scheduling

Shipment is booked once we have received enough vehicles for a full load. We will inform you of the estimated departure and arrival dates. Arrival dates are estimated — not guaranteed. We have no control over carrier transit times or schedule changes.

Documents Sent to Destination

Once the car has left the USA, the original title and bill of lading (with your recipient's information) will be expedited to Dakar or Banjul. Copies of all paperwork will be sent to you by email.

Liability & Marine Insurance

As a freight forwarder, we do our best to arrange, facilitate, manage and load your shipments to safely arrive at destination. However, many parties are involved in the process — truckers, vessel carriers, crane operators, and port authorities — and none can be held responsible for any loss or damage. Fatalities and accidents can occur with ocean shipping.

Marine Insurance — Highly Recommended
Quoted by Vehicle Value

Marine insurance is quoted based on the declared value of your vehicle. It covers loss or damage to your vehicle while in transit.

Not Covered Under Own Power

No coverage while the vehicle is under its own power, except during loading and off-loading.

Excluded Damage Types

Marring, denting, scratching, chipping, rust, oxidation, wear & tear, and mechanical/electrical derangement (unless caused by an insured peril) are excluded.

In-Vehicle Items Not Covered

No coverage for items or accessories inside the vehicle unless factory-fitted.

Deductible

Subject to a deductible of 3% of the insured vehicle value, with a minimum deductible of $500.

Procedure at Destination Port
Customs & Offloading Fees Paid in Senegal

All customs duties and offloading charges are paid at the Port of Dakar in Senegal by the receiver or their customs broker (transitaire).

Using Your Own Broker (Transitaire)

If you choose your own broker, they will need to coordinate with our representative in Dakar to pay the offloading fees (Frais de débarquements). You can pick up your original title as soon as the offloading fee payment is completed.

Container Transfer — Holding Gueye

Upon arrival, the container is transferred to Holding Gueye to be offloaded. This allows you to clear your vehicle without causing delays to other customers sharing the container.

Bill of Lading Released Electronically

We will release the bill of lading electronically to your broker or representative once all conditions are met.

Offloading Fees at Port of Dakar
3 vehicles in container 400,000 FCFA
4 vehicles in container 300,000 FCFA

These fees are paid in Senegal by the vehicle receiver or their customs broker. Saloum Logistics does not collect these fees.

Using Saloum Logistics Customs Clearance Services in Senegal

You may also use your own customs broker — that is perfectly fine. However, we do offer customs clearance services in Senegal. If you would like a customs quotation for your vehicle, please email us with your vehicle's VIN number at . Our team works closely with vessel companies and customs brokers to navigate the process seamlessly.

Customs & Offloading Fees Paid in Gambia

All customs duties and offloading charges are paid at the Port of Banjul in The Gambia by the receiver or their customs agent. Fees are collected by the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA).

Using Your Own Customs Agent

If you have your own Gambian customs agent, they will need to coordinate with our local representative in Banjul to arrange payment of offloading and port fees. Your original title will be released once payment is confirmed.

Container Offloading at Banjul Port

Upon arrival at the Port of Banjul, the container is directed to an authorized offloading zone. As vehicles share a container, prompt coordination by your receiver is important to avoid storage charges and delays for co-shippers.

Bill of Lading Released Electronically

We release the bill of lading electronically to your agent or representative in Gambia once all conditions are met.

Documents Sent to Banjul

Once your car departs the USA, the original title and bill of lading are expedited to Banjul. Email copies are sent to both you and your receiver.
